Signs Your Well Water Needs Treatment
A private well pulls straight from the ground, so what comes out of your tap depends on your well. The Florida Department of Health notes that a rotten-egg smell can show up in wells anywhere in Florida, and iron and iron bacteria can leave yellow, orange, red or brown stains. Most of these problems are a nuisance rather than a health risk, but they wear on fixtures, laundry and appliances.
- Rotten-egg or sulfur smell
- Orange, red or brown stains
- Slime or buildup in toilet tanks
- Scale and spots on fixtures
- Off taste or odor at the tap
- Concerns about drinking water

Local Well Water Help Across Southwest Florida
Most of Golden Gate Estates has no central water service, so most homes there rely on private wells. In Lehigh Acres, a 2015 South Florida Water Management District report noted more than 30,000 documented wells in the area, which draws on the Sandstone aquifer. We serve well-water homes in both communities and across Naples, Fort Myers, Cape Coral, Bonita Springs, Estero and North Fort Myers.

Well Water Questions
Usually it’s a nuisance rather than a health risk. The Florida Department of Health says the smell comes from hydrogen sulfide or sulfur bacteria, that sulfur bacteria are not harmful, and that the smell usually doesn’t tell you how clean the water is. A yearly bacteria test is still worth doing.
Most often iron. Florida health officials note that iron and iron bacteria can cause yellow, orange, red or brown stains, colored water and slimy buildup in toilet tanks. We recommend a system once we see what your water shows.
The Florida Department of Health strongly recommends testing private wells for bacteria and nitrate at least once a year, and testing again any time the taste, odor or color changes. Your county health department can help you collect and test samples.
Yes. We test your water for free so we can recommend the right equipment, with no obligation. If you’d rather skip the test and just get a quote, that works too.
It depends on what your water shows. Our Premium Whole-Home System starts at $3,750+ and is built for well-water homes and larger households. For tougher water, the Whole-Home Reverse Osmosis System starts at $8,000+. If you only want better drinking water, the 7-Stage Reverse Osmosis Alkaline Filter starts at $970+.
